About Loy


I was born and raised on a farm and livestock operation near Wisner, Nebraska.  Athletics and outdoor activities were of special interest to me while growing up.  After graduating from Wisner-Pilger High School, I attended Kearney State College for two and one-half years prior to transferring to the University of Nebraska-Lincoln where I pursued degrees in bothAgricultural Economics and Animal Science.  I was an active member of the Block and Bridle Club while at UNL.  In 1986 I earned my Bachelor of Science Degree in Agricultural Economics from UNL and immediately went to work in Plankinton, South Dakota as a loan officer with Farmers Home Administration. 

After being a loan officer in Plankinton, South Dakota and Albion, Nebraska I obtained my real estate brokers and appraisers licenses and relocated to Western Nebraska.  I was a full time real estate broker for 17 years brokering the sale of ranches and farms in Western Nebraska and the southern tier of counties in South Dakota.  I continued to take the American Society of Farm Managers and Rural Appraisers (ASFMRA) continuing education courses.  In 2008 I received  the Accredited Rural Appraiser (ARA) designation.  In 2002 I went to work as a Principal Appraiser with the Wyoming State Land Office.  In 2005 I accepted the Real Estate Appraiser position with Farm Credit Services of the Mountain Plains in Greeley, Colorado.  In October of 2007 I became anIndependent Fee Appraiser working in association with Kjerstad Realty Group in Piedmont, South Dakota.  In 2008 I started my own business and I am the owner and operator of
 MATTHES LAND COMPANY, LLC.
